North Oaks Staff Create Positivity Chalk Signs for the Community
At the beginning of the Pandemic, the North Oaks team recognized the need to spread positivity and a sense of hopefulness throughout the community. We wanted to make sure that residents and staff knew that we were in the Covid-19 fight together, which led to the creation of positivity signs that are displayed in the community for residents and staff to enjoy.
Several team members from various departments volunteered to make the signs, including D’Asia White, who has been a Dining Room Server at North Oaks since August 2019. She also recently joined the Community Life Services department as a part-time Activities Assistant.
D’Asia’s signs have been a huge hit around the community. Each sign features an uplifting, whimsical message that is known to illicit a chuckle or smile for staff and residents alike – which is the point of this positivity initiative!
“I love seeing these fun, colorful signs around the North Oaks Community,” says Freida Mazer, a North Oaks resident. “The North Oaks team constantly finds new ways to make residents smile and encourage staff to share their passion with those of us living in the community.”
D’Asia has been interested in art from a very young age. Her grandmother, a teacher, always had construction paper, pens and crayons around and encouraged her to pursue her passion. She also liked to draw cartoons. D’Asia further developed her art skills while in school taking art classes and continuing to practice on her own.
“My favorite part of working for North Oaks is meeting the residents, finding out about their life, backgrounds, and customs,” says D’Asia. “I really like learning about them and getting to know their stories.”
D’Asia is just one of many incredible North Oaks team members, ready to share their talents and positivity to enhance the life of North Oaks residents every day. To learn more about life at North Oaks, call us at 410-486-9090.
